About our cause

Hi!

Thank you so much for visiting our page! We are looking to raise some money to fund and host creative wellbeing workshops within Derbyshire and the Amber Valley area.

But who are we?

New Bloom Arts is a newly formed community interest company (CIC) with a real passion for supporting people with their mental health and wellbeing. We want to do this through creative wellbeing workshops which will be open to all and free to attend.

It’s important to know that we are not qualified mental health practitioners but we are people who have a wealth of lived experience and knowledge, and experience within the arts, from which we are able to draw from and use in our work. Don’t worry though, if you are struggling we will be able to sign post you to local services which may be able to assist in a professional capacity.

What will the money be used for?

One of our central goals is to keep workshops as accessible as possible with no barriers to entry and part of that is keeping them free for all. Sadly, we do not have the capital to be able to fund these ourselves (believe me we wish we did!) and so this is where your money helps!

Any money raised will be used to provide artists, materials and a safe space in which we can host our workshops. This does mean we will need to hire various venues as unfortunately we do not have our own space currently. This may be something we look into in the future, if we are successful enough as a CIC.

Meet the Directors!

A little more about us…

Amy Bloomfield

I’m Amy, the founder and Co-director of New Bloom Arts CIC.

My journey into art based wellbeing started back in 2017, when I unfortunately experienced a nervous breakdown, whilst recovering I used my art experience to self-soothe, It did wonders for my confidence. Fast forward to 2024, I graduated with a Masters in fine art. Whilst studying I worked with several arts organisations  Derby as well as the much loved Derby Quad as a creative well-being producer. My idea for New Bloom Arts was dreamt up after sadly being made redundant from Quad and with the decline of arts organisations within the city, I knew I needed to do something to help communities losing out on access to arts and wellbeing services.

Steph Cudmore

I’m Steph and I am the other Co-director of New Bloom Arts CIC.

I have quite a varied background in my career. I’ve worked in the corporate world, gained child care qualifications, worked in retail, qualified as an Emergency Medical Technician working for the ambulance service and more recently worked in NHS complaints within a mental health NHS trust.

In 2020 we all experienced the very difficult time of our first lockdown and living in a pandemic. It was a time of uncertainty and for many of us life moving forwards changed. Towards the end of 2020 I lost my dad and it was this that made me rethink my career and ultimately had me saying goodbye to the ambulance service.

Throughout all of my varied career, I have struggled with my mental health. There have been good times and some really low times and I have questioned myself a lot over the years. In June 2024 I was diagnosed with ADHD and suddenly everything fell into place and a lot of my questions were answered. I have since used creative activities to help with emotional regulation, understanding myself and understanding how taking time for myself was important. This journey has led me to meeting Amy and ultimately jumping on with her as Co-director for New Bloom Arts CIC.

Why choose us?

We’re still in the early stages of our vision and we have lots we want to do. Most importantly though, we are looking to create safe spaces for people to just be and to learn more about themselves. We want to help people with their own wellbeing with a view to improving and preventing poor outcomes.

Sadly we can’t do this alone. We need your help to raise funds to get started and to put on these vital and much wanted workshops within Derbyshire and the Amber Valley community. Receiving support from the community is so important to us to achieve our goals of providing the support and care for those in need.

Anything you can donate will be very much appreciated as we navigate our first year as a CIC. Thank you!

Don’t just grow with us, BLOOM!
